Spiders have lived on earth for nearly 300-million years - long before the first dinosaur! This two-day introductory program will take us on a fascinating journey into the world of spiders. We will learn about the eight-legged wonders that we share a home planet with. We'll delve into their behaviour, understand their ecological significance and even address arachnophobia.
On our daily walks, we'll look for spiders both at night and day to understand the unique lifestyles that exist in each. We'll observe behaviours in spiders and learn how to identify common families of spiders. A debrief session will allow us to absorb the mind-boggling things we see on our walks.
About the Presenter
The program will be led by Samuel John, founder, Spiders and the Sea. John has been fascinated by spiders ever since he walked into a web in his home garden. Today, John is particularly keen on learning about how spiders behave in their natural habitat. He believes that understanding the lives of spiders will help more people overcome their fear and turn it into curiosity and appreciation towards these amazing critters we share our homes and neighbourhoods with!
